The Toshiba Track is a fantastic new attraction at Top Gear Live that will keep fans inspired and entertained through the entire weekend - bringing you all the cars, the noise and the stunts of a real car circus.
The Toshiba Track promises an up close and personal motorsport spectacle with cars competing on a 700 metre purpose built track right in front of the grandstand. The format will be a combination of opposed sprints, where two cars compete against each other and the clock, plus stunt driving demonstrations and hot laps by ‘Stars in Cars’. With the variety of cars and drivers that we have there will be something for everyone.
Taking a lead from the popular segment in the Top Gear television programme, we invited 20 of New Zealand’s most well-known ‘stars’ to be the first in the world to set a time on the leader board for Top Gear Live.
You could have seen leading names like comedian Rhys Darby, tv hosts Lana Coc-Kroft and Brooke Howard-Smith, news anchors Mark Sainsbury, John Campbell, Oliver Driver and Carly Flynn, All Black Jerome Kaino, radio jocks, Shortland Street stars and more. All took their turn to set their time and take home the glory of being the top ‘star’ overall. Beating Craig Hall, Simon Gault, and Mayor Banks at first place came Radio Sport's Darcy Waldergrave! Who will win next year...?

Targa cars may look like ones you may drive every day, or could be classics, high powered V8s or even turbo charged Jap rockets. The difference is they’re all fast and perform superbly and have the same aim - to record the lowest overall time on the Toshiba Track.
We all love the Classic American and Australian cars typically with enormously powerful V8 engines. These are cars you feel and not just see, as they struggle to get their huge horsepower around the tight track. Think big, think powerful, think LOUD!

You got it: the classic battle is on. Are you a fan of the Blue Oval or the General? Modern and old alike, these two local legends will go head to head on the track in a battle for bragging rights. Show your support as they race for which one you want to win, as the drivers might still be able to hear you over the noise of the screaming engines.
High powered, expensive and coveted, watch these Porsches take on the track. While many may boast traction control, the barriers will not be far away and the skill of the drivers will be tested as they seek the fastest lap on the circuit. Many of these cars will not be purpose built race cars, but either daily drives or highly polished Sunday cars cherished by their owners.
To the older generations drifting is not motor racing, but to younger generations it is revered as the ultimate in car control. Watch as the drifters show how the track can be driven at high speed sideways around corners! The screaming of tyres and the clouds of smoke are the objective for this event.
These karts are more like miniature F1 cars than go karts as you will know them with their paddle gear changes and incredible speeds, all while the driver is only 2 inches off the ground! As they are much smaller than the cars which will compete on the circuit, their times will be even quicker as a result.
